Translation

Todd Portnowitz is the translator of Midnight in Spoleto by Paolo Valesio (Fomite, 2018) and Viva il latino by Nicola Gardini (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 2019), and a recipient of a Raiziss/de Palchi Fellowship from the Academy of American Poets. Recent translations include the poetry of Lorenzo Carlucci and Luigi Nono's opera Intolleranza 1960, performed in March, 2018 at Carnegie Hall. He has also translated American poets including Amy Clampitt, Donald Justice, and W.S. Merwin into Italian .   View publications

Music

From 2004-2009 Todd performed as singer/songwriter in the Florida-based band, Clock Hands Strangle, recording two albums, Redshift/Blueshift (2007) and Distaccati (2009) and touring the United States and Canada, including a string of Florida dates in support of Do Make Say Think. He now performs and records as a solo artist in New York.
